Ten Thought Wednesday – Reasons to be Cheerful. :) (Aug 31, ’11)
1) I love Zippo lighters. I must have a Zippo lighter. But not just any Zippo – I must have MY Zippo lighter.
2) I’ve had this current Zippo for 5 years, and keep trying to lose it.3) Pops found it at the top of our driveway some two or three months back, complete with a big dint in the back where it had been run over by a truck or something. It still worked.
4) I lost it about a month ago… no idea where. I’d used it one minute to light a cigarette, and the next minute – POOF! – it was gone.5) I grieved.6) I ended up buying a new one a week ago. A matte black thing with a pink heart and silver “tribal” type embellishments around it. I wasn’t feeling the love for it at all.7) I said to Shane when I picked it up at the post office, “I bet mine will turn up within a week.”8) I tried to love the new thing, but it wasn’t happening. I was grieving.9) I got home from work tonight, and on the table – THERE WAS MY ZIPPO! Shane had found it today, several yards down the road, covered in rust and not working. I gave it a cuddle, cleaned it a bit, put in a new flint and filled it with gas – and it works. I
