Feb 01, 2008 – No, Not Abducted By Aliens! And Only *Sometimes* Nekkid. ;P
Hi Guys!
It’s been a couple of weeks since I last blogged ~ as most of you know, Shane’s currently over here with me on a much needed three week vacation
, 2/3 of which has passed now. He said it’d be a good idea to check in with you guys, and he’s right ~ I’ve been neglectful of both my 360 and Multiply pages. Other things taking up my time, don’t you know…
Well, this visit is a bit different to the last two, where he was visiting England for our first time together last February, then my return trip to the States in August. This has been much more ‘private’ somehow ~ we’re so comfortable with each other and our relationship is so established and committed, it’s more sort of settled and less full of the excitement that goes with first visits to a new country. So I’ll forgive you if your eyes start to droop and I hear gentle snoring in the background if you’re reading this…
Much of the reason for this visit, which was literally talked about and decided in a couple of days, was Shane’s need to simply get away for a bit of R&R ~ and that’s exactly what he’s been doing! Mostly online, catching up with his own friends in the blog world and playing with youtube…
(could he look any more relaxed than that?!), plus reading through the moutains of ‘New Scientist’ journals I have dotted around the flat. It’s been great to see him just having the time to spend…
This last two weeks I’ve still been heading off to work for my shifts, and the girls at work have been great ~ letting me hand over to the following shift first so I can get an early dart home (thanks girls!
You’ve no idea how much that’s been appreciated!), and The Boss, Sue, giving me today which she was due off and going in to do my shift for me. I work some wonderful people! Next week I was originally due to work nights, but I’ve been given a holiday week instead. Too cool!I’ve managed to get some study time in, and Shane’s been involved in that too ~ going over tests with me and discussing the various questions and answers. I’m a little behind, but nothing that I can’t catch up on.
Last time Shane came over, we more or less shut ourselves away from the rest of the world (not surprising ~ it was our first time together!
). But this time we’re including some of the social round into his time here. A couple of evenings ago we visited my friends Jean and Tony at their home, and tonight we’re off out for a few drinks in a local pub with Maddy, a girl I trained with, and her partner Gary. On Sunday we’re off round to Eric’s for dinner and a good gab, and hopefully next Tuesday we’re getting together with Sara (Retro_Gal) ~ I think she’ll hang draw and quarter me if she doesn’t get to meet Shane this time!So what else has been going on? Our first trip to the movies last night to see ‘I Am Legend’ with Will Smith ~ brilliant movie and well worth recommending.
I took the camera in case an opportunity came up, but all I ended up taking was a goofy shot on the bus home…
We’ve been sharing cookery together much more than last time round, and I’ve been loving it watching Shane eating regular, decent meals for a change! Last time we just ‘picked’ a lot, but we’ve actually been experimenting and coming up with some decent food over the last two weeks. He’s introduced me to pesto, which I’d never tried before and am now determined to have a go at making myself ~ a trip to the supermarket today included pine nuts, a couple of bags of fresh basil, olive oil and parmesan. And on my kitchen windowsill I have a healthy basil plant happily getting accustomed to its new home.
So, maybe not the most exciting or scintillating of blogs I’ve ever written. But suffice to say, having a less frenetic time together is going down very well with us both. It’s ‘homely’ and just so comfortable! No doubt we’ll get some more photos taken to post, but this is about it for now
We still have a week left…
I’ll be catching up with you guys individually as time allows ~ I’ve not forgotten about you! Just sharing time with my man.
